A little Kiwi bonding

I'm heading over the ditch this afternoon for a little kiwi bonding,  the sailor and I are catching up with the family and cussi bros for some general kiwiana. Whilst the sailor will be enjoying his sailing and beers I will be out scouting for some objects' de art  for the bach.  I'm thinking anything maori, oars, tikis, carvings and some native kiwi art.
I had to give Rowan one huge cuddle and a million kisses this morning as I won't see him until Monday. Yes! I will miss him a zillion.  I'm one lucky nan, who gets to hang out with the best guy in town most days of the week.  Not only does he love hanging out with me, going up to the bach, going around all the crazy shops I frequent, he listens to all my stories, laughs at all my jokes, devours all my cooking and rocks my taste in music.  I can't explain the joy that this wee man brings me.

If you haven't entered my vintage knickernoo giveaway  head on over and have a peek at some very delicious gelato coloured baby bloomers.  Have a brill weekend!

It's All About Rowan Over At Bondviile

Carnival horse, red wrought iron chair, vintage throw.

I woke to two surprises today, firstly a glimmer of sunshine greeting me through my bedroom shutters and a post on Rowan's bedroom , by the lovely Steph Bond Hudkin author of the super stylish for Mum's only Bondville blog.  If your not following Steph's Blog, click here straight away, but come back and have a look here at what Rowantree was up to in 2010.

Rowan's Bad Hair Day

Oh no, I can't believe I look like this.  Seriously Mum! What have you done to me?

Oh yukky, I really hate it.  I look like Jim Carey in 'Dumber and Dumber'.

Let me just have another look......

Yep, just what I thought, I have a really, really bad doo.

What will I do (sorry for the pun)?  Don a hat for a couple of weeks?

Ohhh so embarassed! Cant look anymore.

Some doo, you did on me mum!  I'll just take it on the chin this time.  Can't wait to show Nan, then you'll really be in trouble.  Where is she going to take me looking like this!

How many of you lovely mums have done this to your children.  Like, I'm only going to snip his fringe to keep his hair out of his eyes and that one little snip ends up looking like this!  I'd love to hear your stories of home haircuts and love to see some pics if you'd email them my way.

Friday Dress

Friday, clearing out my studio for the new coat of paint and finally the room make over, I found this pretty piece of fabric, and in the middle of all the mayhem of moving all the bits and pieces that make up my life inside the back room, affectionately named the studio, I decided to run up a dress to wear to the pub that afternoon with the sailor.
I have to get one coat of paint on before I make up the dress, so I go very speedy, the whole time thinking about how the dress will take shape. Paint job complete I can start the dress.  I would much rather sew than paint!
Just two side seams, cut a piece of fabric on the bias for the neckline and a hem.  Looking a bit on the plain side I then upturned a box of trim treasures and WOW, this piece of vintage lace belonged to my Nana it was attached to a piece of satin so I carefully unpicked it and attached it to the sleeve.
 I'm loving it.......
A quick shower and hair make over and I'm ready for the dress.  Fling open all the wardrobe doors, decide on the tan Chloe boots and wide woven belt.  I'm ready!

Top Swap Friday

The 'Scarf Top' did eventually make it's way over to Lyndal's wardrobe and surprise, surprise, when she popped into 'Victoria' this morning for our usual Friday coffee and catch up date, not only was she wearing and how great does it look!  Lyndal had a surprise for me.  I immediately tried it on, added a belt and away we went out to the front entrance of Victoria, the previous 'scarf top' photo shoot location to take some pics.  How we laughed that we both had similar tops and now we have made a swap.  Love it!
What a great idea for renewing our wardrobes.  We've decided to have a 'Swap Friday' every month.  Do you have a friend for 'Swap Friday'.

The Scarf Top. It Goes Around And Around And Around #23

Good morning, such grey weather today in Sydney but you wouldn't think so in this picture taken outside my house this morning.  Well the reason for this picture is all about the 'Scarf Top'.  You wouldn't call this scarf top Haute Couture but you could call it Haute Bo ho I suppose.  I  purchased this top in Auckland maybe five years ago.  I didn't design or make it, so I feel it has some real cred to it.  It must have been the paisley print that did it for me.
So what about the style?  It's a great way to jazz up and make a tee look a little flirtatious.  It's a wearable accessory, nice drape neck which softens the hard edge of the tee.
It's one of those pieces that hangs around in your wardrobe until you are tired of it and then you palm it off onto somebody else singing it's fashionable virtues.

Well I did just that, I sang it's glory right into my daughter Lauren's wardrobe where it happily stayed for quite some time.

Until recently I found it in the wardrobe in the guest bedroom.  Well it didn't get there itself.  So today I picked it out of the wardrobe and thought I would give it a turn in the wardrobe of my friend Lyndal, it's definitely her colour and she does wear lots of tee and jeans.  Perfect I'll drop it over later.  In the meantime I'll just give it a spin around the house.  What happened next nearly altered the fate of the scarf top moving over to Lyndals.
"Wow you look great this morning, I love that top"  said the Sailor.
Why is it when you want my man to give me the eye when I'm wearing  wearing something REALLY great he gives it to you when I'm wearing the scarf top.

MY DILEMMA........should it stay or should it go now?

WHAT DO YOU THINK?
